Bruce D. MacPhail

Sir Bruce D. MacPhail "was Managing Director of P&O Steam Navigation Company from 1985 until his retirement in 2003. After retirement he continued in his role as Chairman of P&O Property Holdings, where he oversaw, on a part-time basis, the realisation of the Group's international property development portfolio. He retired from this position in 2005. He received his B.A. in Mathematics from Oxford University and his M.B.A. from Harvard. He is currently a Barclay Fellow of Templeton College, Oxford (where he was Chairman of the Council from 1992-5) and is Chairman of the Business Advisory Forum of the Said Business School, Oxford. In 1991 he became a Trustee of Balliol College, Oxford. In 1992 he was appointed a Life Governor and Member of Council of Haileybury. Sir Bruce was a Governor of the Royal Ballet School from 1982 to 1998. In 1994 he was appointed Trustee of The Sir Jules Thorn Charitable Trust. He is a Chartered Accountant and is a non-executive director of Intelligent Engineering Ltd, Chelsfield Partners LLP and Scarborough Minerals Plc. He was knighted in 1992 for services to the shipping industry, and became President of Coral Cay Conservation in 2003." [1]
