Biographical Information

"Brian Howard is an engineer by profession who has spent most of his 50 - year working career in business. For nearly 30 years he worked for IBM rising through several sales and marketing appointments to the position of accou nt executive responsible for IBM’s business with Barclays Bank group globally. On retiring from IBM in 1992, he turned away from the IT world to pursue his passion for wine, and started a wine importing business. He sold the business on in 2001 and, togeth er with his daughter, started Wine Intelligence, a market research and consulting practice, advising with wine producers, wine brand owners and wine region organisations globally on business and market development. "In parallel with a busy working life, Brian served as governor as CofE junior school in Sale, Greater Manchester and has provided active leadership in several charita ble fund - raising initiatives. "He is a member of the World Traders Company, where he has served variously as Honorary Historian and as wine advisor. Following appointment as the Company’s Liaison Officer at the City of London Academy (Southwark), Brian was invited to become a Governor in January 2007 and has additionally served for the last two years as chair of the Curriculum and Com munity Committee."[1]
