Brian Darling is a former corporate lobbyist "on gun rights and other issues" for the Alexander Strategy Group, a K Street, Washington, DC, lobbying firm founded by Ed Buckham, former Chief of Staff for Tom DeLay (R-Texas). Darling was also former general counsel for former Senator Bob Smith (R-New Hampshire). [1]
Darling, while serving as legal counsel to Senator Mel Martinez (R-Florida), admitted that he was "the author of a memo citing the political advantage to Republicans of intervening in the case of Terri Schiavo," Martinez said in an interview April 6, 2005. Darling "offered his resignation" and it was "immediately accepted," the New York Times reported, April 7, 2005.
