Bill Hetherington was the Chairman of Murray Irrigation Ltd, the largest private irrigation company in Australia bewteen 1995 and 2005. In June 2004 it was revealed that Murray Irrigation Limited contributed $40,000 to the right wing think tank the Institute of Public Affairs (IPA), which subsequently lobbied the Australian government to overturn recomendations to increase the volume of water released into the Murray River.[1]
In June 2006 Hetherington was appointed as a member of the board of the Institute of Public Affairs.[2] As of Ausgust 2011, he remains as a director of the IPA.[3]
