Bill Dixon
Bill Dixon was the director of media relations for the Lincoln Group, the Pentagon contractor outed in early 2006 for planting stories in Iraqi newspapers.
According to O'Dwyers' PR Daily, Dixon was previously senior VP and director of media relations for "the powerful DC-area investment bank Friedman, Billings, Ramsey Group, Inc." and has also managed PR for Google and The Motley Fool. He's also worked on political campaigns "in D.C., Wisconsin, Colorado, California and Virginia." [1][2]
According to PR Week, Dixon will be responsible for "telling more positive stories about the agency's work to a cynical press. When asked if his hiring was based on negative external events, Dixon said, via e-mail, that it had more to do with the agency's growth than any other factors." [3]
"Trying to place good stories about their work with deeply skeptical US journalists will take more than a fistful of dinars," former White House global communications director Tucker Eskew told PR Week, adding, "Successfully repositioning this firm will require a new openness, some happy-warrior determination, and light-touch persistence [not] ham-fisted flackery." [4]
In early May 2006 O'Dwyers PR Daily reported that the Lincoln Group had confirmed that Dixon had left the company. [5] (Sub req'd).
