Beth Cole DeGrasse
Beth Cole DeGrasse "joined USIP’s Peace and Stability Operations program in late 2004 and is currently senior program officer in the Center for Post-Conflict Peace and Stability Operations. In this position, DeGrasse coordinates the “Filling the Gaps” initiative: a multiyear USIP-wide effort to improve performance in neglected areas of post-conflict reconstruction and stabilization operations, including media, governance, the role of women, and natural resources. She also facilitates the Iraq, Afghanistan, and Balkans Working Groups.
"Prior to joining USIP, DeGrasse held a variety of positions in the executive, legislative, and nonprofit sectors, including director of the Congressional Roundtable on Post-Cold War Relations, a bipartisan forum exclusively for members of Congress focusing on major foreign and defense policy issues, and executive director of the Peace Through Law Education Fund, where she coauthored two volumes on senior military leaders’ views of peace operations in cooperation with Senator Carl Levin (D-Michigan), then chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee. DeGrasse was a senior fellow at George Mason University’s Program on Peacekeeping Policy and a consultant on peace operations to the U.S. Institute of Peace. She worked on arms control issues for many years, including assignments at the U.S. Arms Control & Disarmament Agency and the Foreign Affairs and National Defense Division of the Congressional Research Service.
"DeGrasse received a B.A. in political science and French from the University of Vermont and completed Kent State University’s program on international organizations in Geneva, Switzerland." [1]
