Basma Fakri

Basma Fakri "is the co-founder and three-time elected president of the Women's Alliance for a Democratic Iraq, an organization dedicated to a free and democratic Iraq with full and equal individual rights for women. Ms. Fakri has addressed the UN Security Council about Iraqi women's issues and their role in building peace in Iraq and attended numerous meetings at the White House, the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of State as part of Iraqi women's delegations. On July 2, 2004, Fakri was awarded the 2004 America's Freedom Festival Award. She has a bachelor’s degree from Baghdad University and a master’s degree from TN State University in Civil Engineering. She received admission to the Mason program in Public Policy at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government for Fall 2007." [1]
