Baroness Whitaker "was created a Life Peer in 1999 after a career in publishing and the civil service. She is currently Vice-Chair of the UK Parliamentary Labour Party International Development Committee, and a member of the Council of the Overseas Development Institute and of the Advisory Board of the British Institute of Human Rights. She is a trustee of UNICEF UK, a member of the UNA-UK Advisory Panel and formerly a Trustee of the One World Trust." [1]
"Her last post carried national and international responsibility for gender discrimination, including leading the national delegation to the 4th UN Conference on Women. She also joined the Runnymede representation to the UN Conference against Racism in 2001." [2]
