Biographical Information

In August 2011 the Board of Registration in Medicine "revoked the medical license of Dr. Andrew L. Stoll, 52, finding that the psychiatrist committed misconduct and practiced medicine while impaired.

"In one case, according to board documents, Stoll had a sexual relationship with a recent patient, violating the ethical standards of the profession. In another instance, he did not return phone calls from two colleagues who wanted to discuss the treatment of a mutual patient, who later died. Stoll told a relative of the patient that he was phobic and could not talk on the phone.

"Stoll is best known for his research into omega-3 fatty acids and their potential role in treating depression and bipolar disorder. In 2001, he published “The Omega-3 Connection: The Ground- breaking Antidepression Diet and Brain Program.”

"He conducted his research as head of the Psychopharmacology Research Laboratory at McLean Hospital. He left the hospital in May 2009. A hospital spokeswoman said he did not care for patients there, and she could not comment on the circumstances of his departure." [1]
