The American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine is a professional association which represents "more than 5,000 physicians and other health care professionals specializing in the field of occupational and environmental medicine".[1] However, it has been described as an organization which represents its company-employed members and opposes industry regulations.[2] A particularly controversial incident occurred when in 2003, an article criticizing Dow Chemical for dismissing 11 cases of mesothelioma was rejected from its Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.[3]
