American Association of Advertising Agencies
The American Association of Advertising Agencies (AAAA) is the national trade association of the advertising agency business, representing 80 percent of the advertising volume placed by agencies. The AAAA lobbies, channels political contributions, engages in public relations on behalf of its members, advocates for the social and economic benefits of advertising, and serves as a source of information and advice on advertising.
The AAAA was one of six 'trade associations' which created the Freedom to Advertise Coalition (FAC) for the tobacco industry when President Clinton approved an FDA initiative to reduce underage smoking (Aug 9 1995). It was the most active in political lobbying to retain the rights of their members to provide advertising services for cigarette companies, and it had a Washington DC lobby office. [1]
