Alexandra Wandel
Alexandra Wandel "is executive member of the board of directors of the World Future Council and based at the WFC head office in Hamburg. Previously, she was the European trade and sustainability programme co-ordinator of Friends of the Earth International, in Brussels. Between 1999 and 2006, she co-ordinated European NGO activities including at the World Trade Organization (WTO) Ministerial Conferences in Seattle, Doha, Cancun and Hong Kong and the United Nations World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg. She was an advisor to the European Commission´s Delegation to the Johannesburg Summit and to EU Commissioner Lamy on globalisation, trade and environment on behalf of the major European environmental NGOs: World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), Friends of the Earth Europe, Greenpeace and Birdlife. Her political demands for a sustainable, just and equitable world were covered by global media outlets, including by the International Herald Tribune, the BBC, Financial Times, Deutsche Welle, European Voice, Liberation and Radio Mundo Real. Beforehand she was staff member of Friends of the Earth Middle East in Cairo and Jerusalem, assistant to Eva Quistorp and Elisabeth Schroedter, MEP, Brussels. Alexandra has obtained a MA degree in International Relations with honours from the University of Amsterdam and has studied political science at the Free University Berlin." [1]
