Albert Shanker "serves on the boards of Freedom House, Social Democrats USA, Free Trade Union Institute and African-American Labor Center, and is on the board of trustees of American Institute for Free Labor Development. In 1988, Shanker was vice president of the AFL-CIO, and was on the board of directors of NED. He is treasurer of the League for Industrial Democracy. Shanker was a founder of the Committee on the Present Danger, and is honorary chairperson of the Bayard Rustin Fund." [1]
