Alan S. Hegburg
Al Hegburg "owns a small oil and gas consulting firm. He also serves as a senior consultant to The Scowcroft Group. He is a Senior Fellow in energy at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and teaches a graduate course in energy at the Elliott School at George Washington University.
"Previously Hegburg worked for three international integrated oil companies: Conoco/Phillips, Amoco and BP. He was manager of International Government Relations at Phillips, where he designed and managed the corporate political risk function as well as the international government relations portfolio. He served on the Planning and Development Committee and as an alternate to the Executive Committee. In addition he directed the International Analysis group at Amoco and served as Director of Geopolitical Analysis for BP
"Hegburg was a career diplomat in the Department of State. He was the first American assigned to the Secretariat of the International Energy Agency when it was established. He was a member of the Senior Executive Service in the Department of Energy where he held various management positions in the office of International Affairs. Prior to the Executive Branch, Hegburg served as Legislative Assistant for a Member of the House of Representatives.
"He is a Navy veteran, with service as an officer in Vietnam, the Philippines and the United States. He is married with two adult children."
