Biographical Information

"Alan Donald, KCMG, LLD was born in Inverurie, Scotland on 5 May 1931. He was educated at Aberdeen Grammar School and Fettes School in Edinburgh and at Trinity Hall, Cambridge. Sir Alan served in the 2nd Regiment of the Royal Horse Artillery before entering H.M. Diplomatic Service in 1954. He served in Peking, France, Greece and Hong Kong before being made Ambassador in Zaire in Indonesia and, finally, in China (1988-1991). Since retirement, he has been a director of a number of companies connected with China and Sourth East Asia."[1] wiki
