A.C. Smid is the board chair and founder[1] of Bear Trust International, a Missoula, Montana-based organization that claims to work to "conserve all 8 species of the world’s bears, other wildlife, and habitat"[2] and that has lobbied against bear and wolf protection legislation alongside a number of gun lobby and sport-hunting advocacy organizations including Safari Club International and the National Rifle Association. [3][4] He is a member of the Boone & Crockett Club, a sport-hunting advocacy organization, the Congressional Sportmen's Foundation's Chairman's Club,[5] and is a noted trophy hunter.[6][7]
