TTK
{{#badges: CoalSwarm|Navbar-Turkeycoal}}TTK, the acronym for Turkiye Taskomuru Kurumu Genel Mudurlu, is a Turkish government owned hard coal mining company. The U.S. Geological Survey reported in 2010 that TTK owned and operated five mines with an annual production capacity over over 2 million tonnes a year of run-of-mine coal.[1]
Euracoal, the European coal industry lobby group, states that "the state-owned TTK has a de facto monopoly on the production, processing and distribution of hard coal, although there are no legal restrictions on private sector involvement ... Long-standing restructuring and privatisation efforts to increase coal production in the basin have not succeeded so far; coal production today is not very different from that of ten years ago."[2]
