{{#badges: tobaccowiki}} CIGNA Corporation is a large U.S. health insurance company covering more than 9 million people. It also offers dental, vision, pharmacy, and behavioral health insurance as well as group accident, life, and disability insurance. Cigna also sells health insurance in Asia, Europe, and Chile, and it sells coverage to expatriate employees of multi-national corporations. [1]

Ad boycott against Air America Radio

CIGNA refused to advertise on the progressive Air America Radio. In October 2006, around 90 companies, including CIGNA, told ABC Radio Networks that they did not want their ads to play on radio stations that carried Air America Radio. [2] [3] [4]

Political contributions

CIGNA gave $276,720 to federal candidates in the 2006 election through its political action committee - 17% to Democrats and 80% to Republicans. [5]

Lobbying

The company spent $680,000 for lobbying in 2006. $120,000 went to the two lobbying firms, Blank Rome LLP and Williams & Jensen, with the remainder being spent using in-house lobbyists. [6]
