Born November 30, 1954 in New Haven, Connecticut.
Grew up in suburbs of Philadelphia, PA.
1991 Took position of vice president of development economics and chief economist of the World Bank.
1993 Named as undersecretary of the treasury for international affairs.
1995 Promoted to deputy secretary of the treasury.
July 1999 - Confirmed as Secretary of the Treasury. (His signature appeared on U.S. paper currency as a result of holding this job.)
July, 2001 - Became president of Harvard University.
