The Bush administration and the Clear Channel Communications connection has recently been brought to light with the firing of Clear Channel's former "shock jock" Howard Stern.
- "By now," writes Maureen Farrell in her March 4, 2004, BuzzFlash article "As the Worm Turns: Stern, Sully and the Bush Backlash," the "ties between the Texas-based Clear Channel and the President of the United States (George W. Bush) are legendary. Clear Channel's vice chairman Tom Hicks 'made Bush a millionaire,' while Clear Channel stations were a staple at 'pro-troop rallies,' which, by many accounts, 'were virtually indistinguishable from pro-Bush rallies.'"
