Established in 2004 within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sydney, the institute is described as the only centre of its kind in the world. It brings together patients, support groups, psychiatrists and neurologists in an environment that promotes synergy of
effort and sharing ideas.
The insitute states that diseases of the brain and mind account for more that 40 percent of all illness. Clincial studies, an out patient clinic and a postgraduate program are conducted at
the institute.
