Ziad Abu Ziad
Ziad Abu Ziad (Ziad Abu Zayyad), "a prominent lawyer and journalist, was elected to the Palestinian Legislative Council in 1996, representing the Jerusalem District. He has also served as Minister of State, coordinator of a ministerial committee on Jerusalem and as head of the Palestinian delegation to the Arms Control and Regional Security Working Group of the Middle East multilateral peace talks. In 1986 Abu Zayyad founded the monthly journal Gesher (The Bridge), which was devoted to promoting dialogue between Israelis and Palestinians and was published in Hebrew." [1]
"Ziad Abu-Zayyad - born in April 1940, a resident of Aizariyeh (Bethany), a Palestinian suburb of East Jerusalem, Ziad Abu Zayyad (Attorney at Law graduate of Damascus University 1965) has been a long time advocate of a peaceful resolution of the Palestinian-Israeli dispute. In 1986, Abu-Zayyad founded the bi-monthly journal Gesher (The Bridge) of which he was publisher and editor. The journal was published in Hebrew and was devoted to promoting the dialogue between Israelis and Palestinians. Abu-Zayyad was co-author of The West Bank Political Lexicon (together with two prominent Israelis, Meron Benvenisti and Danny Rubinstein) which became an invaluable reference document..." [2]
In 1994 he founded the Palestine-Israel Journal with Victor Cygielman. [3]
In 1985 (at least) Ziad Abu Ziad was the director of the Arab Council for Public Affairs (Claiborne, 1985).
