The New Americans Project "is an initiative of the Task Force on New Americans that seeks to improve access to information for new immigrants and encourage volunteerism among all Americans, including both U.S. citizens and those who are new to the country. President George W. Bush established the Task Force on New Americans on June 7, 2006 in an effort to strengthen the efforts of federal, state, and local agencies in providing immigrants the information they need to embrace the common core of American civic culture, learn English, and fully become American. The New Americans Project will help promote volunteer opportunities for those interested in helping newcomers adjust to life in the United States and opportunities for newcomers to get involved in their communities through volunteer service."
