Talk:Timeline to global governance

Why are these in SourceWatch? On looking at these files they take a collection of disparate dates and events and seek to portray them as somehow connected in what is implied is an inevitable move to 'global governance'. From what I have seen they circulate/appear on various other websites. I'm for deleting them --Bob Burton 23:54, 25 Jan 2005 (EST)

What I see from a *quick* review is a lot of links, internal and external, chronologically indexed; and a significant number of "What links here" entries. I do not understand the "global governance" angle, but I am enough of a pack-rat to see more value in keeping this than deleting it; and I do not see it getting in the way of anyting else or otherwise doing any harm.

I don't have a good answer for your question "Why are these in SourceWatch?"; but I don't see how they are in the way; and I do see how they might be useful as background to primary SourceWatch articles. Many, maybe all, primary articles make reference to, or are based upon, an understanding of underlying events or circumstances which of themselves are not clearly relevant; but are still useful in providing some context or background detail.

I think the issue of global governance is an important one, if not necessarily best handled in what amounts to a lengthy time line (there is little context, etc provided). I think to understand alot of whats going on today you have to understand that there has been a steady march towards an eventual homogenized world system of governance, where everything is the choice between vanilla and vanilla bean.

The unfortunate thing, I think, is how much the idea of global government has been dismissed as a fringe right wing thing. While its true there is no international jewish conspiracy like the neo nezis claim, or the secularist UN New World Order, like far right christians claim, there is a very well organized, systematic attempt by those who are individually the elites of their country, to keep an eye on the back of the other elites. It's not conspiracy, but rather, just plain to see.
