Talk:Technological Singularity

Well, this is mysterious. A few days ago the Technological Singularity page still existed, and I made a comment about it here. It had last been modified in August 2003. Today (13 April 2004), it has ceased to be. What's the story? --Wikipedia user Mporter

I see from SourceWatch:Deletion_log that a number of other Singularity pages were deleted at the same time, without any explanation. I assume the author is banned from contributing here. If that's the reason, wouldn't it be better to acknowledge this as the reason (e.g. with a parenthetical "banned user" annotation)?

You're right, I should have posted the explanation. As you surmised, the original article was written by a user who is banned here. Since he posted under a range of IP numbers, I haven't systematically removed everything he contributed, but my policy has been to remove them when they come to my attention. The "Technological Singularity" article was also largely speculative and only vaguely related to the purpose of the SourceWatch. Moreover, it was an orphan article. (The other Singularity pages that I deleted were all redirects back to "Technological Singularity.") Do you feel strongly that I should restore it? --Sheldon Rampton 20:55, 12 Apr 2004 (EDT)
