AI, I think that the proper and easier way to have effected this reorganization would have been to first "Move" John O'Neill to John P. O'Neill, and then edited the #REDIRECT in the residual John o'Neill article.
In part, that sequence may have preserved the edit history with the appropriate title. We'll know next time, eh.
