Hi 70.144.167.26. Welcome to SourceWatch - if you haver any queries feel free to drop me a line (address at the foot of the page). A few queries re this post. When did Ledeen work as an intern? (We should have a start and and end date if we can). Do we know what he is doing now? "Ledeen claims to have call the distributor to confirm the "involvement"." - we really need a reference for this - preferably from the primary source. Same goes for "Other stories based on Ledeen's question at the press conference" cheers --Bob Burton 21:55, 9 Nov 2005 (EST)

The info out there on this incident is sketchy, but an account of the incident and the assertion of Hezbollah promotion of Fahrenheit 9/11 is quite well distributed in various blogs. This is worth documenting since this seems like a deliberate disinformation attempt that all stems from one sketchy second-hand report (the Guardian reporting what "Screen International" reported was said by the UAE distributor of the Fahrenheit 9/11).
For example:
[1][2][3]
The Guardian article quotes "Screen International" as saying "the UAE-based distributor Front Row Entertainment has been contacted by organisations related to the Hezbollah in Lebanon with offers of help." This report seems to have been spun into various other assertions, such as that Hezbollah was distributing the film or funding it. Here's a nice attempt at separating fact from fiction [4].
It appears that the press conference at which Ledeen confronted Moore occured on June 24, outside the Cannon House Office Building. Moore had attended Fahrenheit 9/11's U.S. Premiere at Washington's Uptown Theater the evening before. Here's some WAPO coverage of the Premiere. There is a mention of Rep. Charles Rangel attending the press conference - so at least there is a mainstream press source confirming the press conference happened -- but no MSM source documenting the exchange between Ledeen and Moore that is described in various blogs.

Can't find much on Daniel Ledeen's status as an intern with the New York Sun, but there is this article reprinted on defenddemocracy.org
