Hi again ;-} Is it really "logic"??

Is there such as thing as "orwellian logic"?

Ref. Talk:Orwellize

Precisely the point ... It's like saying "military intelligence" .... only more so!

If you read through the various articles cited, you will find that the "Orwellian" part goes far beyond acronyms, therefore I moved that material to allow for exploration and expansion. The acronyms are few but the doublespeak, doublethink, war-without-end concept, "Big Brother", etc., is a much broader matter and more pervasive daily. It's spreading at a rate that's almost impossible to keep up with ... for example, VICTORY Act, PROTECT Act, both seemingly "Big Brother-ish" in that they appear to be looking out for the health and welfare of the populace when, in reality, they are very much looking out for "Big Brother" and control of the populace.

As they say, it's all in the fine print and these pieces of legislation are so full of fine print that the "experts" have their heads spinning! The "pat" phrases and "sweet talk" appear to neatly cover up the deliberate deceptions.

IMO, that's quite "Orwellian" ... KISS, i.e. the acronym, but it's not. It's complex beyond words--or acronyms--and meant to be that way ... As Geoffrey Nunberg said: "Calling an expression Orwellian means not that it's deceptive but that it's crudely deceptive. ... But Orwell is the writer most responsible for diffusing the modern view of political language as an active accomplice of tyranny. As he wrote in 'Politics and the English Language,' 'Political language ... is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind.'" [1]

Sounds Bushian to me!
