Talk:UK National Identity Cards Scheme
Very interesting article. Especially the figures the companies are charging. I saw on Newsnight that the cards are supposed to be fraud proof but some of the companies that want to make them have said they cannot guarantee that they will be able to do that. So what is the point? Also after the attacks in London, ID cards has become a very easy tool for the hawks to advocate. In addition how would ID cards work in relation to the 'shoot to kill policy?'I think these points need to be added although perhaps by someone who can articulate them better than me. This is the key issue of the next few years in the UK and will also decide the state of our civil liberties. Much more needs to be done but this article illustrates the problems very well.
