Samuel R. ("Sandy") Berger is a member (2011) of the National Security Council and is involved in determining the US foreign policy in the Middle East for the Obama administration.
Berger is "currently Chairman of Stonebridge International LLC, a Washington DC based consulting firm. Mr. Berger served as National Security Advisor to President Bill Clinton from 1997-2000, as Deputy National Security Advisor from 1993-1996, and as Deputy Director at the State Department's Policy Planning Office from 1977-1980. Prior to joining the Clinton administration, Mr. Berger headed the International Division of Hogan & Hartson, a Washinton DC law firm. Mr. Berger received his B.A. from Cornell University in 1967 and his J.D. degree from Harvard Law School in 1971."[1]
Caught with his pants down
In April 2005, Berger was indicted for attempting to steal classified and secret NSC documents by stuffing them into his pants. He was caught in the act by the NSC librarians. This incident proved no bar for him to join the NSC again and obtain again access to secret documents.
