Talk:McCarthyism

What's interesting to me is the defense of McCarthyism from of all people, libertarians. Reason and other rags have consistently wanked on and on about how much McCarthy was right, by virtue of the files found after the Soviet regime collapsed. They ignore of course, that barely any, if ANY, people in the files from the Soviets were any of the people brought in for the hearings. Most of them were low level members of the Communist Party, or simply people that were told and ratted out on. Much like the internment of Japanese Americans, and Malkins ridiculous defense of it, a legitimate threat of spying and espionage was blown up to a witch hunt.
