Query from reader: What is the documentation for the continuing funds from Halliburton? I have looked through Halliburton's annual report and did not find anything. However, I have heard that he is "on leave." Further information will be appreciated.

Even though he supposedly sold off his assets when he moved to Washington, the vice president's financial records reveal he is receiving between $100,000 and $1 million in "deferred compensation" from the company where he served as CEO for five years."
The following was deleted June 2, 2005, by one-time user IP 66.140.173.68 from the Dick Cheney article with the comment "This sort of quackery gives Sourcewatch a bad name." The citation is from the From the Wilderness website, a quote attributed to Michael C. Ruppert, the owner of the online newsletter:
- Richard Cheney has been named as the prime suspect in the mass murders of 9/11 by Michael Ruppert in his well researched book "Crossing The Rubicon: The Decline Of The American Empire At The End Of The Age Of Oil" as given in a speech before the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco on August 31, 2004.
The original entry was made December 23, 2004, by user IP 24.31.29.127, and tidied by Maynard the same day. To date, the entry has remained unchallenged.
Having read through Ruppert's speech, and his assurances that his claims are backed by overwhelming research and documentation cited in the footnotes of his book Crossing the Rubicon, I see no reason to delete the citation.
In naming the inclusion of this citation in SW as "This sort of quackery," the user fails to back up his/her statement with any proof that Ruppert's claim is false or cannot be substantiated.

- I agree with the criticism of the deleted passage and think the deletion should stand. I'm familiar with Michael Ruppert's work and find it full of implausibilities, inconsistencies and claims for which his evidence is thin, speculative. The fact that Rupper himself claims that his work is backed by overwhelming research is no real assurance, because it consists simply of Ruppert praising himself.
