There were two substantive changes I made.

• I have deleted the "-- VP (possible he is working for the Obama campaign via Timmons and Co. " for the moment until it is clearer what the tie in is - I'm assuming this is/or will be available from campaign disclosure records;

• For the moment I have relocated the following par: "While Shapiro was working for Nelson co-sponsored the legislation with Ileana Ros-Lehtinen to restrict US contacts with Palestinians, to criminalize Middle Eastern groups, and to torpedo the Dubai-Port Authority deal."

From this article in the Hill it is clear Shapiro was active on the issue. However, it refers to Nelson proposing an alternative bill to Ileana Ros-Lehtinen's Palestinian Anti-Terrorism Act of 2006. It would be worth clarifying what legislation/bill we are referring to. It would be worth having at look in http://thomas.loc.gov/ to figure out what the sequence was and what the specific provisions were.

It would perhaps be worth creating a page on the bill that Nelson (and possibly) Ileana Ros-Lehtinen supported to set out the specific provisions and their implications. At the moment, the statement that Ros-Lehtinen's bill would "restrict US contacts with Palestinians, to criminalize Middle Eastern groups, and to torpedo the Dubai-Port Authority deal" is not referenced.

I removed the following par for two reasons 1) it was entirely unreferenced and 2) it implies that Nelson's actions were the work of Shapiro but there is no evidence to support that assertion. (To be devils advocate, how do we know that Shapiro was advising Nelson to support all the positions he took?)--Bob Burton 00:23, 5 March 2009 (EST)

• "Working for Senator Nelson" Senator Bill Nelson is a right-wing Florida politician who often co-sponsored rejectionist and extreme legislation together with other right-wing politicians. During Shapiro's four year tenure working with Nelson, there was frequent collaboration with Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.), Eric Cantor (R-Va.) and Joseph Crowley (D-N.Y.), and in the Senate by Sens. John Ensign, Tom Lantos, among others. Among the bills sponsored were the Syria Accountability Act of 2003 and the 2007 prohibition on US contacts with the Palestinian leadership. During Shapiro's relationship with Nelson there was frequent interaction between the Senator and AIPAC."
