In 2012, "The sixth annual Singularity Summit, hosted by the [[Machine Intelligence Research Institute]] (formerly the [[Singularity Institute]]), was held at the Masonic Center in San Francisco on October 13-14. More than 500 of the Bay Area’s top futurists, geneticists, robotics engineers and technologists attended the two-day conference to hear from a world class lineup of speakers who presented the latest advances and trends in artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and more. The headliner for the 2012 Singularity Summit was the Transcendent Man himself, [[Ray Kurzweil]], delivering the keynote address.
