In 2013, ProEnglish has played a major role in the anti-immigration reform movement, along with numerous other groups in the [[John Tanton Network]]. This backlash comes in response to an immigration reform [http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/28/immigration-reform-framework_n_2566494.html/ agenda] introduced by a bipartisan group of senators in January.<ref name="PRwatch Immigration Article">Katie Lorenze, "[http://www.prwatch.org/news/2013/05/12128/scaife-funded-network-works-hard-kill-immigration-reform Scaife-Funded Network Works Hard to Kill Immigration Reform]," ''PRWatch.org'', May 31, 2013.</ref> ProEnglish has received $285,000 since 2001 from the [[Scaife Foundations]], the sole funder of the organization and a strong supporter of anti-immigration laws.<ref name="PRwatch Immigration Article"/>
