Center for Equal Opportunity

47 bytes removed, 15:54, 30 November 2004
The Center for Equal Opportunity is a small ultraconservative boutique think tank vigorously opposed to affirmative action and bilingual education. Founded by right wing commentator Linda Chavez in 1995, the Center's small staff of five includes 2 of Chavez's adult children. Initially and primarily funded with a founding grant from the Olin Foundation, the Center exists largely on grants from the Bradley Foundation, and the Sarah Scaife Foundation. The Center's most noteworthy accomplishment is the publication of a brochure entitled Parents' Guide to Bilingual Education, which despite its name is a tract that instructs parents on how to oppose bilingual education programs in public school systems.
Note: The Center for Equal Opportunity is sometimes referred to as the Equal Opportunity Foundation.
