He serves on the national boards of the [[Peace History Society]] and [[Peace Action]] (the largest peace organization in the United States) and was previously President of the Peace History Society. Professor Wittner earned an AB from Columbia College, an MA in History from the University of Wisconsin and a Ph.D. in History from Columbia University.
