====Conservative position on climate change and Kyoto====
Official Conservative environmental policy at the time of the election campaign kickoff (and at the time of initial airing of the FoS ads) can be found in Section I of the [http://www.conservative.ca/ENmedia/2692/41637 Conservative 2005 Policy Declaration20050319-POLICY%20DECLARATION.pdf]. The policy does not mention (let alone acknowledge the urgency of) global warming, climate change or the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The policy does call for "a review of all environment and energy initiatives, including the Kyoto Accord". It also lists the presumably higher priority issues of smog and air pollution, contaminated sites, offshore oil and gas development, Great Lakes water clean up, illegal oil dumping and aquifer mapping. Section 44 on "Alternative Energy and Alternative Fuels" lists "the expense of assuring the security of traditional fuel sources and concerns over pollution" as motivation for developing these energy sources, but pointedly omits any reference to climate change or the need to reduce greenhouse gases.
Similarly, the website summary of the Conservative environmental platform, found in the [http://web.archive.org/web/20060222211452/www.conservative.ca/EN/2326/31912 section on "Stand up for our communities"], refers to "action to ensure clean air, land, and water", but does not mention climate change.
