On February 1310, 2003, the [http://www.apachecorp.com Apache Corporation], a large independent oil and gas exploration and production company with existing core operations in the United States, Canada, Egypt, Western Australia and China. appointed Precourt's appointment to its board of directors was effective February 10. He had previously served on Apache's board from July 1992 to August 1995.

Precourt has been Chairman of the Bboard Board and CEO of [[Scissor Tail Energy, LLC]], since 2000 and Chairman of the Board of [[Hermes Consolidated, Inc.]] since 1999. Both Scissor Tail and Hermes gather, transport and process crude oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids. He was Vice Chairman and CEO of the [[Tejas Gas Corporation]] from 1986 to 1999 and its president from 1996 to 1998. He was also Chairman of the Board of [[Coral Energy L.P.]] from 1996 to 1999. Both Tejas and Coral primarily focused on transportation, processing and marketing of natural gas.

He is was re-elected as a director of The Timken Company[http://www.steelnews.com/people/april02/people_april04.htm], re-elected to the board in April 2002, and is currently chairman of its audit committee. He is Chairman of the Board and Director of [[Founders Funds, Inc. ]] and a member of [http://www.tipro.org/ TIPRO] (Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association).
