Robb''' joined the faculty of George Mason University in 2001, as a Distinguished Professor of Law and Public Policy, following a political career that spanned a quarter of a century. First elected to statewide office in 1977, he served as Lieutenant Governor from 1978 to 1982, as Virginia's 64th Governor from 1982 to 1986, and as a United States Senator from 1989 to 2001.
"During his tenure in Congress, Senator Robb became the only member ever to serve simultaneously on all three national security committees (Armed Services, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations). He also served on the Finance, Commerce, and Budget Committees as well as the Joint Economic Committee and the Select Committee on POW/MIA Affairs. In addition to serving as Chairman or Ranking Member of several subcommittees, he served as Chairman of the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee and as Deputy Democratic Whip for the South.
