Military Status
Not So "Non-Partisan"
Caution: This information is still somewhat speculative in nature, although likely accurate. Also, a connection between Zirkle and Jones would be helpful.
William W. (Wade Denman) Zirkle may also be the same William Zirkle of Edinburgh, VA, which a Federal Election Commission receipt dated October 21, 2004, shows contributing $2000 to California Republican candidate "Bill Jones for U.S. Senate". On the receipt, William Zirkle gave his occupation as "Military Officer."
Three days earlier, on October 18, 2004, Jones received another $2000 contribution from a "William Denman Zirkle" residing at the same address in Edinburg, VA, although this receipt lists his Occupation as President of Shenandoah Valley Holdings LLC.
On October 19, 2004, the "Jones Senate Victory Committee" received an additional $10,000 contribution from "W. Denman Zirkle" of the same Edinburg, Virginia, address. No employment information is noted on this receipt.
These records all post-date Zirkle's injuries sustained in Iraq on Labor Day 2004. Athough Zirkle's address stated for contributions is Virginia, and Jones was a California candidate, it could be explained by the fact that Zirkle's unit was stationed out of Camp Pendleton in California and Zirkle's home of record is Virginia.

New Info
*Newsmeat Campaign Contribution Search: January 25, 2000: "Zirkle, Wade Mr. ... *Newsmeat Campaign Contribution Search: February 27, 2006: "Zirkle, Wade ... Woodstock, VA 22664 ... (R) (which is connected with "Friends of George Allen" ).
Woodstock, VA is where Seavey's unit was based out of. It is also the location of the current PO box for VFF. What is up with woodstock, VA?
No doubt, Woodstock appears to be a connection point for both Zirkle and Seavey. Why? Don't know yet.
However, I did post the following on Zirkle's page, which indicates it's not only Zirkle family territory (Historic Zirkle Mill) but his old stomping ground:
:In February 2006, Jim Patrick wrote in My Shenandoah County: "Wade's now recovered and living in Shenandoah County again. He's active in politics, but also actively promoting this nonpartisan effort to give balanced reports on conditions in Iraq."
Questions
Hometown News Releases
Where are the hometown news releases on Zirkle's time in Iraq? College entry? Original military commission?
Pacific Ethanol
This needs some more research.<br>
Additionally, searching under the names "William Zirkle" and "William Denman Zirkle" turns up yet more interesting information. SEC filings reveal that W. Denman Zirkle owns 126,666 shares of the company Pacific Ethanol, Inc. Meanwhile, William Wade Zirkle owns a much smaller 16,666 shares of the company. ==Response: TruthAbove==
His name is William Zirkle . It is harder to tie Denman to him than William. There is not reason he cannot be William Denman "Wade" Zirkle. Though, I believe most probably is William Wade Zirkle. See edgar filing.
...
Actually, this source helps a lot. What you are citing is a long list of officers that the Marines don't want to lose at the end of their enlistment, so they offer them a promotion in exchange for reenlisting. More over, this is the same zirkle. Look at the paul zahn interview, specifically the part about Lance Corp. Benjamin Gonzalez and the grenade. Then compare it to this article in the Marine Times. I think that it is safe to say that the VFF Exec Dir is named William Wade Zirkle. Based on the various combination of the source you just found, fec records, the marines times article and so forth. --TruthAbove 17:44, 12 Jun 2006 (EDT)
P.S. Interesting addition is that, if I am correct in my assessment of the document you show in your PS, it would indicated that Zirkle was given the option of going back to Iraq, like he says every soldier there wants to, and he choose not to. Though this does not take into account his wound and makes the assumption the Marines would only invite him if he were healthy. And a small point, but just something worth noting.
Concession: You May Be Right
When using the search criteria Zirkle, USMC I had come across the following articles, including
So ...
*This raises bigger issues, which you pointed out ... And indicates that Zirkle accepted the Reserve Officer promo to Captain, as he is referred to by that title in April 2006 article (event took place in March), and we know now that he was on the promo list and took the promotion, as outlined below. This is the same William W. Zirkle, as the last four SSNs used to identify him are all 3244.
*Zirkle was injured Labor Day 2004 ... which means he was in rehab until the VA political campaigns in 2005, when he comes into contact with Creative Response Concepts and Campaign Solutions, with whom he subsequently goes into partnership to create Vets for Freedom. Wow! What A Sell-Out!!!
*I will dig some more and piece some of this together and post it here in talk later and we can work the section out here in talk before posting to the main Vets and Zirkle articles. Ok?
*Also have not found any documents stating that he is no longer on the Reserve Active list. Artificial Intelligence 06:27, 13 Jun 2006 (EDT)
*Couple of things:
::a. "Concession: You May Be Right" - None of this is a concession. Everything here is a work in progress, your critique of my additions and mine of yours led us to where we are now, which is a much better place than we were a day or two ago. This is more of a brainstorm, and putting as much information down as possible whether it helps or hurts our current positions and assumption will help us get to the bottom of all this.
::b. As to his rank, I'm not entirely sure if he accepted the promo. Though the article in April 2006 would indicate he did accept it; it could be a mistake or confusion. Part of what the ORB does is promt people and so they automatically get the title, but the only keep it if they say in the military. So he might have had the position for a week or two. But this is merely speculation of an explanation to the confusion.
::c. sounds good re: posting here first. I'll do that.

Possibilities
W. Denman Zirkle may be Wade Denman Zirkle, but it could also be William Denman Zirkle ... will do some more genealogical sleuthing. Artificial Intelligence 11:15, 12 Jun 2006 (EDT)
*W. Denman Zirkle: "Graduate, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Retired Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army Reserve. Most recently chief executive officer of Carret and Company, a New York-based advisory firm sold in 2004. Previously affiliated with Lynch & Mayer, Inc. as senior vice president of marketing and Franklin Templeton Investments as executive vice president. Trustee of Randolph-Macon Woman's College."
*W. Denman Zirkle, WG’62, was named CEO of Carret and Company, Inc. (Newswire, 6/3/02) Wharton Alumni
*"Wade" is definitely a family name with the Zirkle family.
*"Denman Zirkle" was $1,000 fundraiser with Kigore's campaign.
SwiftVets Similarity
The following was misplaced, as the section is about fundraising. The point of the following entry needs clarification, as it seems to be incomplete.
:Evidently, the similarities between Vets for Freedom and swift boat veterans for truth are so great that that, on his democracy-project.com website, Bruce Kesler, who worked with John O'Neill on both SBVT and the 1970's "pro-mission" organization Vietnam Veterans for a Just Peace (of which Kesler was the founder).
Please do a brief comparison (mission, intent, etc.) of Vietnam Veterans for a Just Peace with Vets for Freedom, as your point is well taken but deserves a section of its own. Artificial Intelligence 10:58, 12 Jun 2006 (EDT)

Seavey Stuff
1. tells murtha that he dropped out of college to go to afghanistan, but claims and seemingly did graduate from the citadel long before that, especially given his position at the american legion. Is he just refering to grad school?
2. the "True Conservatism" forum is deleted at almost the exact same time when the VFF announces its new leadership and becomes active. About April 12.
3. There is reason for Seavey to want the forum to be shut down:
:*Seavey made frequent blunt and unsavory remarks. At one point the slogan which he has used to accompany his name is "I know, I know, you'd rather be with your vibrator". He tells about a he almost was able to have sex with, but had to throw her out because "she's married to a deployed jarhead." In another post he vividly describes masturbation among the troops. "Guys would just wip it out and crank away. If they were feeling charitable, they would atleast sheath it with a sock. We used to cut the light out and jack it before we watched movies or whatever. Believe me, we were chronic over there. My buddy rubbed one out in all 26 guard towers. One time the Aussies we were working with did a circle jerk, and the first guy to finish drank for free all night. Seemed like an odd contest to me, but these were the same knuckleheads that taught me penis origami." In the same thread he talks about his ritual with his troops of: "My troops slapped me on the ass and said "good game" everytime we came off a combat patrol. And I said every time "Sorry fellas, you're gonna have to blow me to get out of the army."" While these posts would be very embarrassing for a public figure, especially one who is trying to be very political, there are others which he would want to keep quiet for other reasons.
:*He defends Murtha against an attack on murtha's new anti-war stance. Seavey writes: "Normally I agree with everything Netsec says, regardless of the crap I give him. BUt on this one I do not. I love Murtha, and honor his service. Netsec, you might not know this, but Murtha is the Author of the Flag Protection Amendment. Also, Murtha before said No pull out. He was very very very opposed to a pull out. That is the change. Before he just felt we were approaching the war wrong." :* On November 20, Seavey says that he is going to write his speech that night, possibly though there is no proof his murtha speech. The thread indicates that it is in response to a recent thread, which could be the one cited about which was 2 days earlier.
:*Seavey thanks the board for their help and one blogger says the he sent brad, his pentagon contact, the speech to which brad wrote back, "Just got through listening to Seavy on the Michael Reagan show. Very nice! Exactly what we, as PAO[i believe this is public affairs office], need the 29th Soldiers to sound like." Not exactly what the pentagon would like getting out. :*Following his appearance on CNN he wrote: "my hero, Ed Gillespie, who called my house 3 minutes after it was over, and asked my housemeate to ask me to address the GOP Women of Virginia meeting in February. Mrs George Allen will be in attendance." ::"I don't neccessarily think you should make too much of all this. The Taliban was never extinguished in Afghanistan to begin with. I got back from there in August, and not a day went by that we weren't engaged somewhere. I think this is a bit of hyperbole.
::"As for the Heroin, there is nothing else that grows there. If you eradicate all the poopy fields, you will anger the local hadjis, and then you might as well give the Gov't back to the Taliban, because you will have given them a campaign issue they can't lose on.
::"Lastly, of course there are crooked folk in the Stan. Always has been. BUt if you put the crooks in charge for a while, atleast you don't have chaos. Eventually the Democratic ideals will come to the surface, and all will be well. The 'Mayor of Kabul' (as some of us heard Karzai referred to) is a good guy in a very bad spot. Give him time. In the meantime, let the SF boys do their work dragging the militants out into the sunlight."
:*Continuation:
::"Unfortunately, in this particular case, I think saying nothing is probably best. Trust me, there are plenty of special ops dudes running around there. Everytime the administration takes credit for anything there, or gets hardline, the opposing elements in 'stan get all fired up. Afghanistan is a country that moves very slowly. Give the people a chance, and it will shine through, and Democracy will take full bloom, but its going to be a bit of time. In the meantime, the ANA is being trained, and is engaging the extreme elements. I think that Afghanistan is on track.
::"If I do have one fear, it is that I don't know what Afghanistan can ever produce that will be worth exporting. One of my troops once said 'Just look around... Sometime centuries ago, a guy wandered into this area and said this would be a great place to settle down. He must have been a complete moron, and as far as I can tell, so are his decendants.' While not a Condi-esque statement, it was pretty hard to argue with."
Web grabs
As Neoconned has been doing with the CIA air stuff, web grabs of those postings would be good, particularly about the speech.
Yes, PAO means Public Affairs Office. There is no doubt in my military-experienced mind that Zirkle in Fallujah, April 2004, was cleared/approved for the comments he made to the embedded North County Times reporter and the constant repeats of him on CNN.
VFF is a RNC op, no doubt about it.
