SourceWatch talk:History

7 Oct.'03: User:142.177.etc is not invited to contribute to SourceWatch: based pages.

User:142.177.etc officially does not care if User:Maynard "invites" him to do what is necessary or not. He intends to keep doing so. When there is an official policy to say that there is some problem with anons doing so, he will presumably answer to that policy, But you do not make such policies with your own preferences. That is just vandalism.

8 Oct.'03: Sysops have authority derived from responsibility to maintain the quality of contributions. I'm exercising that responsibility. Other sysops and the owners all are empowered to reverse my actions. Should they do so, I would welcome their input. Until they do so, I'm willing to exercise my responsibilities.

Users have an invitation, which is retractable at the will of the owners and their designees/sysops.

You are confusing the power to do something with the right or requirement to do it. You are fooling no one. And, I suspect, you know it, since SourceWatch:problem users, which had a detailed report on the issues with your "policies", was deleted. I suspect deleting the non-objectionable files was simply a cover.

142.177 is dis-invited. Too bad it didn't work out.

What's too bad, is that this material now must go directly to PRwatch.org's board, to see if they think 142.177.etc is more qualified to set these policies, or you are. That might have unfortunate consequences. But it must be done, since these issues must be resolved. I hope you do not gain any direct or indirect benefit from the job you may lose as a result. I apologize again if you do.
72 hours from now, there's either a policy on SourceWatch:size and SourceWatch:redirect and tolerance for SourceWatch:open links, or there is not. If there is not, then, it is fairly easy to demonstrate that it is not possible to write any article here without it being randomly deleted for "reasons" that do not fit together - for instance to delete articles for having "too many open links" or delete redirects just for not being used yet, forces one to come back and add links or redirects or rewrite anchor text later. Who is going to do that? You are not volunteering to do it. Thus you are vandalizing. I am sure the board will "get it".

72 hours from now, or sooner, you should give up here and go find something else to do.
