Richard "Dick" Thornburgh is the former Republican governor of Pennsylvania (1979-1987) and served as Attorney General under George H.W. Bush (1988-1991), resigning in 1991 to run for the open U.S. Senate seat opened by H. John Heinz III, but was defeated by Harris Wofford.[1]
