Ricardo A. Millett

Ricardo A. Millett "is the President of Millett & Associates in Chicago, which provides program evaluation and strategic planning consultant services to foundations and non-profits. With over 40 years of experience in community and public policy planning and research, Dr. Millett has focused his career on promoting economic and social justice for all. Immediately prior to founding his own company, Dr. Millett served as President of the Woods Fund of Chicago, where he developed and implemented a successful strategic grant-making plan that served the needs of Chicago’s least advantaged communities. He has also served as Director of Program Evaluation for the W. K. Kellogg Foundation, as Senior Vice President of Planning and Resource Management for the United Way of Massachusetts Bay in Boston, and as Deputy Associate Commissioner of the Department of Social Services for Massachusetts. Dr. Millett has published a book and several articles on the subject of citizen participation and community capacity building. Dr. Millett received a BA degree in economics, as well as MA and PhD degrees in social policy planning from Brandeis University."

"Millett is co-chair of the Governor of Illinois’ New Americans Policy, a National Advisory Board member for Hispanics in Philanthropy, treasurer and a member of the board of directors of the Association of Black Foundation Executives, and a board member of Grantmakers for Effective Organizations (for which he leads the “measuring effectiveness” sub-committee). Millett is also an accomplished writer and lecturer, having written numerous leading articles on evaluation including “Evaluation as a Democratizing Practice” in Foundations & Evaluation and “Information as a Management Tool” in Evaluation with Power."
