Rocky Mountain Institute
The Rocky Mountain Institute is a Colorado-based green think-tank and consultancy founded in 1982 by L. Hunter Lovins and Amory B. Lovins. The group was based on the Windstar Foundation's land until 2013. [1]
RMI started out as one of the pioneering advocates for 'soft' energy paths and the potential of energy efficiency as alternatives to reliance on ever expanding generation capacity whether of nuclear, thermal or hydro power stations. Subsequently RMI has evolved to promote market-based approaches to materials and resources efficiency.
Some of its recent major projects and publications include:
- Natural Capitalism
- Winning the Oil Endgame: Innovation for Profits, Jobs, and Security, a Pentagon-cofunded blueprint for making the United States oil-free.
