Persia White, "born October 25,1977, is an actress, singer, musician, and activist. After 9 seasons as a series regular on the hit TV comedy “Girlfriends” on the CW network, Persia is branching out into the world of film and music. In 2008, Persia completed filming “Spoken Word” opposite Ruben Blades and Kuno Becker, directed by Victor Nunez. In 2009, Persia starred in “Stand” opposite Darrin Henson and Regan Gomez.

"On the music front… Persia will release 2 albums this summer. One is a compilation of songs she wrote that have appeared on Girlfriends and various solo work. Some songs were collaborated with recording artist Tricky (of Massive Attack) and others with Saul Williams. The second album, titled “Problem Child,” was created with Persia’s band XEO3 and has a darker industrial influence. Persia has worked with great artists such as Gary Wallis of Pink Floyd, Dominique Miller of Sting, Jerome Dillon, former member of Nine Inch Nails, and Big Bio of Outcast. Persia has written soundtrack music for 3 independent films, as well as the season 5 and 6 finale song for “Girlfriends,” and the season premier of season 8.

"Outside of music and TV, Persia starred in the made-for-TV movies “Operation Sandman” opposite Ron Perlman and “Suddenly” opposite Kirstie Alley. She has appeared in various independent films, including “Red Letters” opposite Peter Coyote and the cult horror “Blood Dolls.”

"As a teenager, Persia’s extensive television experience included a series regular roll on the syndicated teen series “Breaker High” with co-star Ryan Gosling, as well as guest starring roles on “Angel,” “NYPD Blue,” “Brooklyn South,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” and many more.

"Adding an important layer to this versatile performer, Persia is an animal welfare and environmental activist. Persia is an active Board member of the Humane Society of the United States, as well as a Board member of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. Persia has been a trusted spokesperson on behalf of animal welfare for over 10 years. In 2005, she was honored by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) as Humanitarian of the Year, as well as by Farm Sanctuary in 2006. Persia also managed to merge her activism into her TV character on “Girlfriends,” by making her a vegan and animal activist, leaving millions of fans globally aware of animal welfare issues. “Girlfriends” was the #1 TV show in African American homes for over 8 years, as well as a leading show for all women ages 14-42. In addition, Persia produced the award-winning documentary “Earthlings,” narrated by Joaquin Phoenix." [1]
