Monica Lewinsky was a White House intern who had sexual relations with President Bill Clinton. The resulting scandal culminated in Clinton's impeachment. In an MSNBC article (about Independent Counsel Kenneth's Starr report to the House of Representatives on the affair) Lewinsky describes the aftermath of a January 1996 sexual encounter between the two at the White House. It states,

According to Ms. Lewinsky: "[H]e was chewing on a cigar. And then he had the cigar in his hand and he was kind of looking at the cigar in . . . sort of a naughty way. And so . . . I looked at the cigar and I looked at him and I said, we can do that, too, some time."[1]

This revelation published in the Starr report resulted in an unexpected boost in cigar sales in some parts of the world. Following is the text of a short article about the effect of the Monica Lewinsky scandal on sales of cigars in Romania:

Bucharest--The Internet publication of Ken Starr's report on U. S. President Bill Clinton's relations with Monica Lewinsky has given a welcome, unexpected boost to cigar sales in Romania. Inspired by the pair's now much-publicized antics in the Oval Office, a cigar distributor in the central Romanian town of Cluj has renamed its product after the former White House intern. Locals apparently can't get enough of "Monica Lewinsky" cigars, even to the extent of eschewing ordinary cigarettes. "It has been an immediate success, "said a delighted saleswoman at one store in the town-center." Smoking a cigar is a bit like stepping into Clinton's shoes," mused an enthusiastic young architect, adding "and of course, there are all the sexual connotations."[2]
