"Michael Brander trained and worked in a number of jurisdictions as a corporate lawyer. Since leaving practice has been involved in several start-up and early stage businesses. He also owns and manages Whittingehame Estate in south-east Scotland. As well as chairing Medical Detection Dogs Michael is chairman of SST Sensing Ltd, an engineering company with world leading technology in sensor devices, and About Tack Ltd, a company currently developing a potentially revolutionary equine saddle technology.

"Michael has a breadth of experience and international outlook based on years working in Hong Kong and throughout the world in large legal firms and investment banks but particularly enjoys working with early stage ventures such as Medical Detection Dogs. Michael’s wife Donna, who is the Charity’s welfare advisor, was a lecturer in animal welfare and behaviour at Edinburgh University’s Royal School of Veterinary Studies and they have two dogs and a number of other animals at their home in East Lothian.
