"The MUGAS Foundation is an initiative taken by Professor Ab Osterhaus and Mrs. Chris Vanlangendonck. They have been joining forces in the European Scientifc Working group on Influenza (ESWI) since 2000, bringing together Prof. Osterhaus’s scientific knowledge and Mrs. Vanlangendonck’s expertise in communication. Over the years, the cross-fertilization of both fields of expertise has evolved into a unique perspective on science and communication. In 2014, Prof. Osterhaus’s concern to promote independent and socially relevant scientific research and Mrs. Vanlangendonck’s concern for clear public health communication have culminated in the creation of the MUGAS Foundation. Honorary Professor at Institut Pasteur Paris, Claude Hannoun, infuses the MUGAS Board of Directors with the weight of half a century of scientific knowledge and public health policy expertise." [1]
