John Eatwell
John Eatwell "is Professor of Financial Policy in the University of Cambridge. He was educated at Cambridge and Harvard and has taught economics at Cambridge since 1970. He became President of Queens' College, Cambridge in 1997.
"From 1985 to 1992 he was economic adviser to the then leader of the Labour Party. In 1992 he entered the House of Lords, and became Principal Opposition Spokesman on Treasury and Economic Affairs (to 1997). In 1988 he set up the Institute for Public Policy Research, now one of Britain's leading think-tanks.
"In 1997 he joined the board of the Securities and Futures Authority, Britain's securities markets regulator (until end 2001). His subsequent publications include Global Finance at Risk: The Case for International Regulation (2000), International Capital Markets, (2002), Global Governance of Financial Systems: The Legal and Economic Regulation of Systemic Risk (2005) and Financial Supervision and Risk Management in the EU (2007). He later joined the Regulatory Decisions Committee of the Financial Services Authority (until 2006).
"He was a member of the Board of the Royal Opera House from 1998-2006. He was Chairman of the British Library, 2001-06. He is Chairman of the Royal Opera House Pension Fund." [1]
Lord Eatwell is Trustee at the Institute for Public Policy Research, Non-Executive Director for SAV Credit Ltd, Chairman of the Royal Opera House Pension Fund and Chairman of the Consumer Panel, Classic fm.
